About The World of Glass Map

Each week, between 350 and 400 float glass lines around the world yield about 1,000,000 tons of glass. The energy- and cost-intensive process produces more than 90 percent of the flat glass used in construction and automotive applications. This site offers a comprehensive look at the float glass manufacturing industry, identifying the dozens of float manufacturers operating hundreds of float locations around the globe.

New in 2018, the World of Glass map also presents the locations of leading architectural glass fabricators serving the U.S. and Canadian markets. The list of fabricators is based on Glass Magazine’s annual Top Glass Fabricators list, which recognizes glass fabrication companies that operate stand-alone architectural glass fabrication plants in the United States or Canada. An exception to this rule is Tecnoglass. Although Tecnoglass’ manufacturing facility is located in Barranquilla, Colombia, its significant U.S. presence earned it a spot on the list. The list does not include float glass manufacturers that also have fabrication capabilities at their locations.
